Eternity and The Matrix

Seeking eternity is dangerous. It is dangerous because our Society does not understand eternity. Society only understands the here and now. Instant gratification, constant distraction, and endless consumption.

Deep down inside we all KNOW there must be more, that this cannot be all there is. But, at what point will we stop “drinking the Koolaid” of success at our jobs? At what point will we stop trying to “keep up with the Joneses”? At what point will we recognize that “following one’s bliss” is really just a sales strategy promoted by large corporations?

To seek eternity is to desire true beauty, true existence, true being. Deep down, we KNOW these things must exist. If we would simply unplug our lives from mindless pursuits, we would be able to hear the small inner voice that desires to speak to us. It is like the scene from The Matrix (1999), where Morpheus first speaks to Neo about the “real world”:

Morpheus: I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I’m talking about?

Neo: The Matrix.”

Like in The Matrix, we are all enslaved by powers beyond our comprehension. But the difference is that each of us is called to be “The One”, each in our own way. We are all called to true freedom, true significance, true destiny of purpose, in a “Zion” beyond our wildest imagination.

The good news is that we can decide to desire to know the Truth of Eternity and all that is Eternal will come to our aid. Even now, Eternity is seeking us, knocking on the doors of our existence, asking for admittance.

Each of us must decide between the “blue pill” of servitude and the “red pill” of freedom.

Let’s cast aside our dependency on the false comforts proffered by Society. Let’s seek the Eternity that truly exists, the Eternity that we KNOW is there.

Let’s walk down the road a piece and seek Eternity together.
